This Japanese Beef Stir-Fry pairs perfectly with rice or noodles to create a complete meal that you'll love.
Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 12oz sirloin steak, cut into thin strips
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- I small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh ginger root
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 12oz fresh snow-peas, strings removed
- 8 dried shitake mushrooms soaked in warm water
- 1 head Chinese cabbage
- 1 tablespoon shoyu
- ½ teaspoon sugar
- Salt to taste
Preparation:
- In a wok or skillet, heat the oil over a medium heat until just starting to smoke.
- Add the beef and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring all the time, until it is browned.
- Remove to a plate and keep warm.
- Put the onion, ginger and garlic in the pan and stir-fry for about 4 minutes.
- Add the snow-peas and the cabbage and stir-fry for a further 2 minutes.
- Add the beef back to the pan, and season with shoyu, sugar and salt.
- Serve immediately with freshly cooked rice or noodles.
